Ithaca: David R. Ellis, 54, of West Village Place, died Saturday, March 2, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Ithaca, son of the late Richard and Nellie Ellis.

Dave had worked for Cornell University, Ithaca College and the E.O.C. He was a member of the VFW Post #961 and assisted with their ritual team at military burials. He was an avid fisherman. He will be remembered as a happy go lucky person who loved his family and friends and his cat, Sally.

A loving and devoted father, Dave is survived by his children, Tanya, David, Elizabeth, Melodie, Christina and Robert Ellis and Candi Brown, Christina Watkins and Laura Watkins and his grandson, Aiden Rozas. He is also survived by his loving companion, Mary Holford and his brother, Shawn Chillson.

Dave's family will receive friends on Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Bangs Funeral Home. Donations in his memory may be directed to the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes, 612 W. Sate St., Ithaca, NY 14850. The family would like to thank the staff at Cayuga Medical Center and Hospicare for their loving care.
