Heather Macdonell Obituary

Heather Alayne Macdonell, 50, of Ithaca, NY died on March 5, 2024.  She was predeceased by her mother Carolyn and sister Kelly. She is survived by her father James Macdonell and sisters and brother Cathy Kabanek, Debbie Macdonell, Diane Macdonell, Patti Macdonell, Karen Cordi, Stefanie Blickensdorf, Mary McGlasson, Jerry Macdonell, and Shannon Phipps and families. She is also survived by her best friend Ethel Cratsley and her furry friend Cat.

Heather grew up in Kirkwood and graduated from Windsor Central High School.  She was an accomplished businesswoman who started her own venture called “Moxy” which was a combination of upcycling items and helping others. She had always wanted her own business, and the excitement of buying and selling second hand was her passion.  She loved the stories behind each item she discovered. Heather enjoyed music of many genres and would often break out in song.  She had a hearty laugh and was loyal to those she loved, including her community of friends in Ithaca.  A weekly Sunday dinner at her home for her Ithaca-found family was a tradition. She was loved and will be missed by many.

There will be a mass said in her memory in Ithaca on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Church, 113 N. Geneva St, Ithaca, NY at 4:30 pm. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting the family, online at www.bangsfuneralhome.com
