Beatrice N. Dennis

Dennis, Beatrice N. 104, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday August 23, 2015 while at Hospice.
Born October 17, 1910, in Addison, NY. the daughter Eska and Nellie (Beard) Shaff. She was the middle child of nine children. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers: Glen Sr, John, Ralph, Augusta, and Edward. Sisters: Louise Reeves, Myra Painter, and Mae Shaff. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Dorothy Marie Freund, son-in-law William R. Freund, and grandson Stephen M. Freund.
She is survived by her Grandchildren: Terry L. Freund (Karyn) of Camillus, Norene L. Turcsik (Stephen) of Groton, Kevin A. Freund (Karen) of Newfield, and Christopher E. Freund (Rebecca) of Midlothian, VA. Great- Grandchildren: Jason Freund Lapole, Benjamin M. Garrett (Kaytlin Bell), Gregory L. Garrett (Crystal), Trevor C. Brill-Freund, Jonathan J. Freund (Jessica Iacovelli), Christle M. Towner, and Megan G. Freund and great great granddaughters Lyla and Sage Freund. Her special niece Cindy Pataki who was always there to lend a hand, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A lifetime resident of Ithaca, she was a long time member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church where she served as treasurer. She co-owned Dennis's Grocery on the corner of Tioga and Lincoln Streets until 1950's and then Eastern Artificial Breeders retiring in 1975. She then served the McGraw House as a matron until her final retirement in the early '90's. Her life was dedicated to her faith, her church, and her family.
The family would like to send a special thank you to her most recent aides: Patty, Helen, Ethel, Gloria, Stephanie, and Stacey and to the many years of support by the staff of Hospice.
Calling hours will be on Saturday, August 29th from 10am - 11am at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1019 N. Cayuga St, Ithaca, NY. Funeral will be at 11am to follow the calling hours. Reception to follow the funeral at the church.
Burial will be private and at the family convenience at Frear Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care 172 E. King Road, Ithaca, NY and the Tabernacle Baptist Church.
