Britton A Fazio, age 44 departed this life on March 5th, 2021 at his residence in Ithaca, NY. Britton was the youngest of two children and the son of Frank and Jacqueline Fazio. He was born in Ithaca, NY on January 27th, 1977. Britton attended the Ithaca City Schools and was an outstanding athlete in both football and baseball. He also participated in a variety of other sports such as basketball, hockey and lacrosse. After Ithaca High School, Britton attended Milford Prep Academy where he participated in football. Britton found great joy in being involved in many youth athletic programs. He always had a special way with connecting and mentoring children of all ages. Britton worked at Cornell University in dining services and enjoyed interacting with the college students.
Britt was fortunate to have a large loving family, as well as the many athletic communities that became a second family. From his young days running around the Ithaca College football and baseball fields, to his days as a 3 sport athlete at Ithaca High School, Britt was always happiest when he was around the game. He was the most fulfilled when he was mentoring young athletes, sharing his knowledge, and love of sports. He had a special gift for bringing joy to all around him, especially those who needed extra guidance. Britt had a huge heart and could light up any room with a big laugh and smile.
Britton leaves behind his father Frank Fazio, mother Jacqueline Fazio, his sister Sarah Fazio, his daughter Gianna Fazio and step daughter’s Aubrey and Hailey Abshire. Anyone who saw Britton with his girls knew they were the light of his life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday March 12th at 11am at Immaculate Conception Church. Due to Covid Restrictions seating is limited but there will be a livestream of the event at www.immconch.org . Click on the blue button in the top right corner of the homepage that reads “watch Britton Fazio funeral”. In lieu of flowers donation’s may be made to the Britt Fazio Athletic Scholarship, in care of Tompkins Trust Company, PO Box 460, Ithaca, NY 14851. The scholarship will be directed toward local disadvantaged youth to assist them financially with equipment and other needs so they don’t feel excluded from pursuing athletics.
