Charles W. "Bus" Reniff

Charles W. "Bus" Reniff 91, Went to be with his Lord on Monday November 24, 2014.
Bus was born on September 18, 1923 in Cortland, NY son of the late Charles p. and
Clara Vashti Warriner Reniff. He was a graduate of Cortland High School Bus earned
his B.S. degree at Parks Air College (Now part of St Louis University) and was a
Meteorolgist for American Airlines at LaGuardia Field, N.Y.C.where he met his future
wife Ruth. He entered the Army in 1944 and served with he 77th (Statue of Liberty Division)
during WWII in the Phillipines and later as Army of occupation in Japan.
Bus and Ruth were married in Ridgewood, NJ on June 6, 1946. The couple lived in Ridgewood, NJ,
Cortland, Elmira and Ithaca, NY where Bus Retired in 1978 as Vice President of the former
First National Bank of Ithaca and now Bank of America.
Over the years Bus served on the Salvation Army Advisory Board, Ithacare Board, and as a volunteer for Hospicare. He was a life member of the Presbyterian Church also attended the Bethel Grove Bible Church and in later years he followed Ruth to St Catherine of Siena Church. His interests included Music (Piano, Organ and Trombone) reading, Bible Study, wood working, Skiing (snow & water), Sailing, Soaring; Bus was a Licensed Glider Pilot. Ruth and Bus travelled extensively all over the World and logged many miles in the U.S.A. in their camper-van.
Bus is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Ruth Herrmann Reniff, Son: George "Chuck" Reniff, Daughter: Susan Vashti (Steven) Gannett, Granddaughters: Erica Reniff and Jessica Gannett Burkholder, Great Granddaughter: Elizabeth Vashti Burkholder and Great grandson: Steven Tate Burkholder. He was pre-deceased by a daughter: Judith Ann Reniff.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday December 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at St Catherine of Siena with Fr. Joseph Marcoux officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to either St Catherine of Siena
Hospicare or Bethel Grove Bible Church. Bangs Funeral Home will be assisting the family.
