David Brian Peter aka “Jake”, 63, of Ithaca, NY passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 27th surrounded by his two devoted daughters, loving family and many dear friends. He was predeceased by parents, Jacob J. and Hazel (Robertson) Peter and brother, George Eric Peter.
He was a loving father and grandfather and is survived by his daughters, Christy Peter-Karamardian and Michelle Peter (Brandon Blas); his grandchildren, Wyatt Quinn, Mianna Herson, Elijah and Malik Blas; sister, Joanne Arnold of Fairport NY and brother, Jacob A. (Rebecca Newhart) Peter of Jupiter, FL. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews as well as a large number of cherished friends.
David “Jake the Snake” did everything from taking over “Jake’s” bar, construction work, black top laborer, traveling, gardening and above all else, opening his heart and extending his home to everyone. Proud of his Armenian and Syrian heritage, we could count on him to make the traditional dishes for every family reunion and gathering. With a generous heart of gold and without a second thought, he cared for others more than they or he cared for himself. He was a confidant to great numbers and no matter his circumstance...he always managed to enlighten and guide those around him.
He leaves behind endless wisdom to anyone fortunate enough to have crossed his path. He will be remembered for truly living life freely, loving hard and seeing the very best in everyone. He had the finest sense of humor and a joke for everything! He knew something about everything and everything about something. His life and legacy are certainly something to be celebrated.
Calling hours will be at Bangs Funeral Home in Ithaca, NY on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 3pm to 6pm. A graveside service and burial at Kings Cemetery of Ithaca, NY will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 2 pm. We would like to thank Hospicare of Ithaca for their support. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Hospicare at 172 E. King Road, Ithaca, NY 14850. As he would say, ....”Stay gold!”
