Our beloved son and father, Derrick V. Wilder, affectionately known as "0" departed this life on August 31, 2020, at his home in Ithaca, New York. Derrick was born in Mountainside Hospital on May 17, 1968, in Montclair, NJ.
Derrick attended schools in Montclair, E. Orange and Plainfield. He eventually obtained his GED through Montclair High School.
As a small child, he was happy and energetic and always had a smile on his face. A doctor once said, "everyone he meets is a friend." That statement remained true throughout his life. He loved people and was loved by those who knew him. Derrick was also a little mischievous, and counted on his cute, one-sided grin to get him out of trouble.
In approximately 2001, Derrick relocated to Ithaca, NY, where he met and married Gladys Wells. He held various jobs, including: working at Cornell University in the bookstore and dining room; Ithaca College dining room; construction through the labor union and Vanguard Printing Press.
In his latter years, he faced some health challenges but always kept that warm smile, quick wit and great sense of humor. His face lit up when he sat down to a good home-cooked meal. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid fan of the New York Giants.
In departing this life, he leaves to cherish his memories; his parents Keith and Alma Netto; daughters, Alexis Wilder (Michael), Chelsey Wilder, Breyana Wilder, Divina Thompson (Tim), Ashanna Wilder, and Aisha McCoy: sons, Derrick Wilder, Jordan Fort (Nicole) and Anthony McCoy (Kaitlyn); one brother, Brian Netto (Carmen); one sister, Nicole Loomis (Brian): ex-wife, Gladys Wilder; and grandchildren; There are several people who were instrumental in Derrick's upbringing, but special acknowledgement is made to his Aunts, Faye, Debbie, Alicia, Tracey, Uncle Earl, Godmother, Sheila and deceased Grandparents, James and Ruth Beverly.
