E. Kimball (Kim) Milling, 90, of Ithaca, New York, died February 23, at Kendal at Ithaca from a short illness. He was born on September 23, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of L.E. Miling and Ruth Kimball Milling. He was the husband of the late Kay Slentz Milling and, since 2014, was married to Joyce Ebbinge Barney. Kim was a loving husband and father, and a caring friend and neighbor. He enjoyed photography, birding, hiking, traveling, reading, and handyman activities. He was a member of the First Unitarian Church of Ithaca and the City Club of Ithaca. Kim enjoyed volunteer activities at the Ithaca Hospicare and the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island, Florida. Since April 2016, Kim and Joyce have enjoyed an active and full life in the continuing care retirement community at Kendal at Ithaca.

Mr. Milling was a graduate of Texas Tech University, Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and the New School for Social Research. He was the pastor of the Columbus Park Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, Missouri (1962-1969), a Human Relations Specialist for the New York City Housing Authority (1969-1973), the Director of a federal tenant development demonstration project for the Hartford Housing Authority (1973-1985), the Director of the Community Services Division at Manchester (Connecticut) Community College (1975-1983), and the Director of Division of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions at Ithaca College (1983-2007).

Kim is survived by his wife, Joyce Barney, of Ithaca, New York; his son Jacob Dexter-Milling, daughter in law, Nancy and their two sons, Edwin and Patrick of Prairie Village, Kansas and his sister, Anne McMurrough of Anchorage, Alaska.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life at Kendal at Ithaca on May 30, 2026 at 2:00PM, Interment of ashes will be at Hazels Back Yard in Ithaca and at Mt. Auburn United Church of Christ, Kimball Point, Warren County, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Kim’s name to Hospicare of Tompkins County, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850; the Jacob Allen Kimball Endowed Scholarship Fund, Elon University, 2600 Campus Box, Elon, NC 27244; or some other charity of your choice.
