Edward Hampton Rudert of Ithaca, NY died peacefully on November 28, 2025. He was born November 12, 1942, the son of Ernest and Doris Rudert, in Rome, GA, where he lived most of his life until moving to Ithaca in 2006 to be near children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy McBride Rudert; their daughters Angela Rudert (Zach Shulman) of Ithaca, Kathy Rudert (Christian McKeithen) of Ithaca and Karen Rudert of Portland, OR; grandchildren Kayla Shulman, Nicole Rudert, Kieran Shulman and Tegan Sims; brother and sister-in-law Bob and Sally Rudert. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother John Rudert.
Edward was a retired CPA, an Army veteran and a graduate of Darlington School, Davidson College and Georgia State University. He was deeply involved in church, charitable, civic and professional activities, accepting leadership positions in many such organizations. However, he hoped to be best remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
A memorial service will be planned for a later date, in Rome, depending on family travel considerations. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to make a donation in his memory is encouraged to consider the Davies Homeless Shelters (daviesshelter.com), which Edward was proud to have served as chair of its founding board, or Hospicare (https://www.hospicare.org/).
