Elfriede Batterman, 82, of Ithaca, NY, passed away on July 1, 2013 at the Cayuga Ridge Health and Residential Community. Born March 20, 1931 in Mount Vernon, NY, she was the daughter of German immigrants, the late William and Johanna Vollrath.
Elfriede (Friedel) was always an outstanding student, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree (summa cum laude) in History from Tufts University in 1953. She and her husband, Boris, spent the academic year of 1953-54 as Fulbright Scholars at the Technische Hochschule in Té
