Gloria Scalise

Gloria Alexander Scalise, age 92, of 236 Valley Road, Ithaca, N.Y., died February 3, 2019 at home. She was born in Ithaca, N.Y. a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. I.B. Alexander.

Mrs. Scalise was a graduate of the Ithaca College Music Department, Class of 1948. She was a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota National Music Fraternity for women. She taught music education in several public schools, later teaching piano privately. During this time she owned and operated a business building at 124 East State Street, the Commons. The building was purchased by her father in 1919 and she, upon ownership, continued to renovate and improve the building.

Mrs. Scalise is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Rhonda and Timm Lathwell, grandson Jay, and granddaughter Angela and her husband Michael Trumbower. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers George and Jack Alexander of Ithaca.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church or to a charity of your choice. Bangs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
