In Loving Memory of Harry Craig Miller
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Harry Craig Miller, beloved husband and father, and valued member of the Ithaca community. Craig passed away suddenly on his 75th birthday, February 10, 2025.
Born on February 10, 1950 in Elmira, NY, he grew up in Horseheads and was actively involved in youth sports. He graduated from Horseheads High School in 1968 where he was a standout athlete in basketball and baseball. His sports career continued in college. At Hobart William Smith College, he was a four-year varsity athlete and captain of both the basketball and baseball teams up until his graduation in 1972. He became a teacher and moved to Hartford, CT. During the summers, he worked as the land sports director at Camp Wigwam in Harrison, ME where he met his wife, Paula Stockus. They married in 1978 and moved to Sacramento, CA. Craig completed his Business Administration Degree at Cal State Sacramento while working at the Golden One Credit Union. In 1984, the next move to Ithaca, NY was to be to their final destination. Craig was gainfully employed by the Tompkins County Trust Company as a VP of Residential Mortgages until he retired in 2007. Throughout his career, Craig was involved with many numerous community activities that touched many lives leaving a lasting impact.
Craig is survived by his wife Paula Stockus Miller and son Harrison Cyle Miller, siblings Diana and Dr. David Crandall of Mountain Top, PA, Dr. Douglas and Laurie Miller of Cedarville, OH, Joycelyn and Edward Pace of Lewisville, NC, nieces and nephews Lisa Major, Amy Zimmerman, David Crandall Jr, Stefanie Cannon, Evan Miller, Leah Miller, Ansel White, and Steven White. Craig is now reunited with his parents, Anna Matejka and Harry Cleon Miller, whom he missed dearly.
Craig will be remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit, kindness, generosity, and his adept ability to debate any topic. But, most important is the love he had for his family. He was a devoted fan of all sports but had a real special spot for the New York Yankees. As an adult he enjoyed playing golf, basketball, and softball. One of his greatest joys was being involved and coaching youth sports. He was a volunteer youth basketball coach, and he wore many different hats within the Babe Ruth and Cal Ripkin Baseball Leagues. Craig’s most valued memories were the times he spent with his son traveling to different sports tournaments. He loved animals, especially dogs and in his later years he spent many enjoyable hours at the Ithaca Dog Park with his beloved dog, Ori.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Bangs Funeral Home. Friends may call from 2-3pm with a service to follow at 3pm.
Craig will be greatly missed.
