John “Crash” Cooper Sr., passed away peacefully after a brief illness on 2/12/2026 surrounded by family & love. Born to the late Kenneth Sr. and Leah Cooper.
Pre-deceased by his siblings Kenneth Jr., Linda Watt, Marilyn Philips, Stepson Ted Baker on 12/27/25. Survived by his sister Deb Preston (Peter); children: Missy Cooper Hammond (Kenny), John Cooper Jr (Melanie), Tammy Cooper, Keith Sherman (Michele), Winnie Ankrum (Jay); grandchildren: Jordan Lynch (Matt), Kylee & Alayna Cooper, Jenna, Megan, Dylan, McKenna, Gabriel, Kelsey, Justin, Niclole, Brett, Chantel. Great-grandchildren: Blakely, Charlotte, Daniel, Gabe, Theo, Henry, MaryJane, Pokie, Levi, Callie, Beau. Nieces&Nephews: Kandy, Brandie, Scott, DJ, Eric. One of his greatest joys was watching all his family and friends grow.
John shared his life for 40 wonderful years with his loving partner Pat Baker. Their 4 decades together were filled with loyalty, laughter and countless memories.
Known to man as “Crash” with his deep passion for racing. He proudly raced the 109 and then 4R- the 4 roses for his 4 kids. The racetrack was more than a pastime it was where friendships were formed and memories were made. His nickname followed him both on and off track and became part of the legacy he built in the racing community. When his racing career ended, he enjoyed golfing and riding his Harley.
John will be remembered for love of family, his passion for racing, his golfing advents, his adventurous spirit and the steady presence he brought into the lives of those who knew him.
May he ride free and race in heaven.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026 from 4-6pm at Bangs Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
