John Kalinowski, 93, of Penny Lane, Ithaca, NY, died Wednesday, March 09, 2016 at the NYS Veteran's Home in Oxford, NY. He was born in Passaic, NJ, son of the late Felix and Sophia Zbyrad Kalinowski.
John served in the Pacific Theater with the United States Army during World War II and was retired from the Givaudan Company in Clifton, NJ where he had worked as an operating engineer for 34 years. He was a member of The Russell-Dul American Legion Post #359, Passaic, NJ and the V.F.W. Post #961, Ithaca, NY. He was also a member of The Immaculate Conception Church in Ithaca and a former member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Garfield, NJ.
John is survived by his wife of 66 years, Irene Janda Kalinowski of Ithaca, NY and his grandson, Daniel Kalinowski of Washington, DC. He was predeceased by his daughter, Janet Kalinowski who died in 1999.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Cemetery, S. Hackensack, NJ. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Bangs Funeral Home.
