John P. Sullivan

John P Sullivan, 64, of Bath, NY and formerly of Ithaca, died Tuesday October 13, 2015 at the Bath VA Nursing Home. Born in Ithaca, he was the son of the late William H and Ann Hannas Sullivan. John graduated from Ithaca High School in 1968 and earned his Bachelor's degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He was a Veteran of the US Navy (1971-79) serving as an Air Traffic Controller aboard the USS Forrestal, the USS Guadalcanal and at NAS Jacksonville, FL and NAS Alameda, CA. After leaving the Navy, he continued as a controller for the Department of Defense and the Federal Aviation Administration.

Survivors include his wife: Maureen Pittenger Sullivan - Ithaca, Sons: Sean T Sullivan - NYC, Kyle P (Cassandra) Sullivan - Peterborough, NH and Alexander P (Kat) Sullivan - Framingham, MA, Sister-in-Law: Karen Sullivan, Nieces: Paula Sullivan (Wayne) Miller and Patricia Sullivan (Dave) Siegard, Nephew: Patrick J (Kristin) Sullivan and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his brother, William H "Sully" Sullivan, Jr in 2005.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2015, 2:00 PM at Calvary Cemetery with Patrick Meyer, Immaculate Conception Church, officiating, followed by full Military Honors from the VFW Post 961. The family welcomes friends to join them at the cemetery and/or a 3 pm gathering at Stella's Barn, Rt 13, Newfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Wounded Warriors Project in John's memory.
