Joyce Claire Paleen passed away peacefully on February 11, 2019 in Ithaca, New York at the age of 87 after a brief illness. She was born in Racine, Wisconsin to Hazel and Roy Nordstrom on June 23, 1931. She was a 1949 graduate of Washington Park High School and a 1953 graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Journalism where she met Bill Paleen, her future husband of 65 years and fellow Badger alumnus. Joyce and Bill were married in 1953 in Racine and had three children, Ellen K. Aubel, Fred W. Paleen, and Meredith P. English. Joyce and Bill moved to Ithaca, New York in 1971 and have been active members of the Ithaca and Cornell communities since then. Joyce is survived by her husband, two of her three children, five grandsons, and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church in Ithaca, New York on Saturday March 2nd at 11:00 AM.
