June Michele Haynor passed away peacefully on December 19th, 2025, holding hands with her beloved daughter and granddaughter. A lifelong resident of Ithaca, NY, she was born on May 11, 1943, and was the daughter of the late Charles and Carmen (Sis) Solomon. June graduated from Ithaca High School and attended Cascadilla Business School. After dedicating 32 years of service to Cornell University, she retired and pursued her many passions. Her volunteer work at Saint Catherine of Siena Parish led to Father Joe Marcoux hiring her full-time, where she found great joy in serving the parishioners and living out her strong faith.
June was deeply involved in the world of dance. A talented dancer herself, she lovingly passed this tradition to her daughter and granddaughter. Later in life, she successfully operated two retail stores, "The Dance Connection" and "Backstage Basics." Her warm, fun-loving personality and gift for making friends easily led to lifelong friendships formed at chance encounters.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Richard John Haynor. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Jo (Morehouse) Johnson and granddaughter, Cali Michele Johnson, of Ithaca, NY. She is also survived by her sons: Richard Mark Haynor and grandson Mark Anthony Haynor of Surprise, AZ; Daryl Jay Haynor and his wife Phyllis Haynor, grandson Nicolas Haynor and his husband Jed Frye, and granddaughter Kristen Haynor, of Oakton Virginia; and Christopher Todd Haynor and his wife Ashleigh Banfield and her sons Jay Fischer Gould and Ridley Gould of Darien, CT. June is also survived by many loving cousins.
The family wishes to extend its heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful and caring professionals at Cayuga Medical Center, who provided her with compassionate care and dignity. Calling hours will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Bangs Funeral Home on Sunday, December 28th, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 302 St. Catherine Circle, at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 29th, 2025, with Father Daniel McMullin presiding. June will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery beside her husband and parents.
June will be remembered as a friendly and kind woman — a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and faithful friend. She will be truly missed by all whose lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Catherine of Siena Music Ministry in memory of June Haynor, 302 St. Catherine Circle, Ithaca, NY, 14850.
