Kathleen McGuire Smith

Kathleen McGuire Smith went to be with her lord on Sunday, July 6, 2025. She was the daughter of Kenneth McGuire and Laura White McGuire. Born April 3, 1936. “Teen” was her childhood name that followed her throughout her life, many people thought that was her given name.

Teen grew up with two sisters, Bessie McGuire and Anne Akers and her brother Tom McGuire, on her grandparents’ farm on Millard Hill Road in Trumbull Corners. She graduated from Newfield Central School and went on to college to study food science.

The McGuire, White and Taber, families, were close- knit and not only worked together at the family business McGuire Gardens but celebrated every holiday and birthday together at Laura and Ken’s house “McGuire Mountain” on 50 acres atop Connecticut Hill.

Teen was a Past President of the Newfield Lioness Club serving Newfield and Camp Badger in Spencer, NY. Teen and her loving husband Donnie Smith belonged to many service clubs as well as bowling leagues and never missed a car show with their 1945 Jaguar.

Teen always had a special place in her heart for children, especially her son Frank Tuttle, who she named after her favorite singer, Frank Sinatra.

Surviving nephews Danny, Buddy and Clinton Akers, Stephen and Randy Brown. And Niece Karren Van Etten will carry Teen in their hearts for years to come.

Teen was a good friend to all and had many funny stories about her childhood. She loved and collected teddy bears, buttons and animals of any kind.

She will be missed by many friends and those lucky enough to meet her.

Thank you to Oak Hill Manor and their staff for giving Teen a lot of joy and compassion, where of course, they all loved her.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 12:00 noon at Trumbull’s Corners Cemetery, in Newfield. Family and friends are invited to the Sebring Inn following the graveside at 1:00PM.
