Margherita Nassar

Margherita Biefeni-Olevano Nassar, 83, of Ithaca and Queens Village, NY, died on December 14th 2025 at the Bridgewater Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Binghamton, N.Y.

As the youngest of four children to Epifanio Biefeni-Olevano and Marina Dandini, she was born June 15th 1942 in Anagni, Italy, in the province of Frosinone, after the family fled Rome during the bombings of WWII to have baby Margherita in safety. She married Fares Farah Nassar in Rome, Italy in 1967 and followed him to New York to where he had emigrated in 1964. They were married for 58 years.

They moved to Ithaca in 2006 which she loved because the hills reminded her of her native Italy. She was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church, and an active member of the community until the COVID pandemic, and dementia reduced her participation in activities she loved like a local Current Events discussion group and the Ithaca Bridge Club. She is survived by her husband Fares Nassar, her two sons Charles and David Nassar, her daughter Suzanne Peritz, son-in-law Andrew Peritz, grandchild Connor Peritz and her sister Vincenzina Biefeni-Olevano.

Wake services will be held on Friday December 19th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at Bang's Funeral Home at 209 W. Green Street, Ithaca, NY 14850.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena church in Ithaca on Saturday December 20th at 10:00 am.
