Patricia "Jean" Massicci

July 24, 1930 — July 25, 2017

Patricia "Jean" Massicci, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017. She was born in Oil City, PA on July 24, 1930, daughter of the late Clyde and Gladyce Karns and was the widow of Mario Louis Massicci.

Jean graduated from hair styling school and worked as a hairdresser. She also was a homemaker, worked at Immaculate Conception School and Henry St. John School in the cafeteria and also worked in housekeeping at Cornell University and as a caterer with Millie Swanson and John Wells.

Jean was an associate of the Sisters of Mercy and a Eucharistic Minister at Immaculate Conception Church for many years. She loved being an associate and doing for others and traveling to the Mother House for their gatherings. She was also a member of the "Gorgeous Gals" Red Hat Society of Ithaca and was active with Maryanne Fitzpatrick with the Salvation Army. Jean also enjoyed Bingo, playing cards and doing puzzles. She was loved by many and truly will be missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Longview for the excellent care they gave Jean the last few months.

Jean is survived by her seven children, Margo (Jim) Brill of Ithaca, Dorothy "Dee Dee" Lynch of Brooktondale, Joseph Massicci of San Francisco, Mary Burns of Genoa, Mark (Sue) Massicci of Ithaca, Tammie Zimbrick of Boca Raton, FL and Kimberly (Tony) Cooke of Elloree, SC and her twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Jean loved her family and her church but her eyes would especially light up when her grandchildren and great grandchildren would come to visit. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and was a mother to many children on Fayette St. when her children were growing up.

A Mass of The Resurrection will be celebrated by Fr. Joseph Marcoux on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 11:30 am at the Immaculate Conception Church. The family will receive friends in the church prior to the mass beginning at 10:30 am. A reception will follow the mass in Carges Hall located in the church basement. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church or to the Sisters of Mercy. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
