Peter R. Strizack, 78, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026, after a lengthy illness, with his loving

family by his side.

Born on March 6, 1948, Peter was the son of Pete Strizack Sr. and Helen M. Brown.

Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Christine (Nechporek) Strizack, with whom he shared a

lifetime of love, devotion, and cherished memories. Their enduring marriage reflected their deep

commitment and the life they built together.

He is also survived by his daughter, Michelle (Strizack) O'Connor, and her husband, Kyle; his

granddaughter, Samantha O'Connor; his beloved sister-in-law, Marta (Nechporek) Wentzel, Christine's

sister, who was like a true sister to him, and her husband, Larry; and their daughters, Christina and Kylie

Wentzel.

Peter was predeceased by his parents, Pete Strizack Sr. and Helen M. Brown, and his brother, William

Krebs.

Peter dedicated 46 years to Tompkins County Hospital, which underwent several name changes during his

career before becoming Cayuga Medical Center. He began as an orderly in the operating room and later

worked in Shipping and Receiving on the hospital's receiving dock, where he remained until retirement.

His decades of service reflected his strong work ethic, loyalty, and dedication. During those years, he

formed lasting friendships with doctors, nurses, technicians, administrators, and fellow staff members.

Known for his kindness, humor, dependability, and willingness to help, Peter treasured the colleagues who

became trusted friends. The hospital was not only his workplace but also a community where he shared

countless conversations, coffee breaks, celebrations, and memories.

Peter was also a lifelong volunteer firefighter with Ithaca Fire Department Company 2, generously serving

his community.

An avid golfer and devoted sports enthusiast, Peter was a loyal fan of the New York Mets and Pittsburgh

Steelers. He also enjoyed NASCAR, particularly admiring the legendary Dale Earnhardt. Whether

golfing, cheering on his favorite teams, or following a NASCAR race, Peter found years of enjoyment in

these passions.

A longtime member of the Eagles, Elks, and Moose clubs, Peter treasured the friendships and

camaraderie he found there. He leaves behind many dear friends who will miss his companionship.

Above all, Peter's greatest legacy is the family he leaves behind. He was deeply loved, and the years they

shared will remain a lasting source of comfort.

Although his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his family finds comfort in their memories, the love

that surrounded him throughout his life, and the knowledge that his final moments were peaceful.

Peter will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of his family, friends,

former hospital colleagues, and all whose lives he touched.  As per Peter's wishes, there will be no services.
