Rhoda Streifer

At the age of 72, Rhoda Ann Streifer Takashima, a long time resident of Ithaca,

passed away at Beechtree Nursing home in the early hours of September 10th.

Only three years ago, she was diagnosed with primary progressive multiple sclerosis. Rhoda grew up in Monticello, NY, the eldest child of Lucille and Harold Streifer. She graduated from NYU with a degree in Fine Art. In Ithaca, she enjoyed tutoring Cornell students and their families in English conversation. She loved to share language, culture and ideas. She is survived by her sister, Joan Olson of Minneapolis, MN, brother Mark Streifer of Medway, MA, daughters Sumie Takashima of Teaneck, NJ, Hiroko Takashima of Ithaca, and 5 loving grandchildren.
