Richard W. Anderson

Richard W. Anderson, 75, of Babbling Brook Dr. died Saturday February 20, 2019 at home.

Richard was survived by his two children Katie and Stephen and daughter-in-law, Erica and his five grandchildren Caitlin, Lanaia, Brianna, Emma and Isabel, also his sister: Patricia. He survived his wife Dorothy who died in 1992 after 16 years of marriage. He never remarried.

Friends of Richard know he had a deep love of Shakespeare, philosophy, coffee, the Boston Red Sox, loud music, film and long walks; but above all he loved his family. He believed the unexamined life was not worth living. Richard was fiercely loyal and was there when you needed him most.

As a young man he was honorably discharged from the Marine Corp and later he pursued acting as a member of the American Shakespeare Company. Later in his life he was a director for Ithaca City School. Richard was a dedicated teacher loved by generations of students.

A Celebration of his life will be held at the Community School of Music-Arts Third 3rd Floor, 330 East State Street Ithaca on Saturday March 23, 2019 from 1:00 to 4:00 P.m.
