Richard Carlton "Dick" Curran

RICHARD CARLTON (DICK) CURRAN (b. June 27, 1920)

Dick passed away peacefully at Cayuga Medical Center on Tuesday, March 13, 2018.

Dick was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of Peter A. Curran and Ruth (Callahan) Curran. He was the brother of the late Mary (Curran) Whalen and the late Robert Curran. Dick married Evelyne M. Wood on June 13, 1945. Dick's career began in time work study at Rowe Manufacturing in New Jersey. He moved his family to Ithaca in 1957 where he worked at Morse Chain and continued to Borg Warner Automotive, retiring as Chairman and CEO in 1987. During his time at Borg Warner Automotive, Dick was influential in the opening of the Lansing plant. He especially enjoyed interacting with employees on the factory floor.

Dick's loving wife of 62 years, Evelyne, predeceased him in 2007. He is survived by four children - Lynda (Ken) Dryden of Toronto, Canada; Jill (Rich) Weiss of Ithaca, N.Y.; Amy (Dave) Anderson of Ithaca, N.Y.; and Jack (Fran) Curran of East Greenwich, R.I. His family was made complete with the addition of six grandchildren - Sarah (Scott) Dryden-Peterson, Michael (Tammy) Dryden, Matthew (Haley) Weiss, Kyle Anderson, John Curran and Sean Anderson, as well as five great-grandchildren. His family was the joy of his life.

In later life, Evelyne and Dick traveled extensively and enjoyed their home in Jupiter, Florida returning to Ithaca in 2002.

Visiting hours for family and friends will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Church on Saturday, March 17 from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. A private interment at Calvary Cemetery will take place immediately after the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dick's memory may be directed to Hospicare, 172 East King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850.

Dick/Dad/Grandpa-Grampy/Great Grampy will be greatly missed.
