Robert "Bob" Diemond

July 7, 1936 — September 29, 2014

Robert "Bob" Diemond, 78, of Smith Rd., Newfield, died Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA, following a brief illness. He was born in Ithaca, son of the late Alex and Helen Soles Diemond.

Bob was a graduate of Ithaca High School and had owned and operated Diemond's Discount Beverage in both Ithaca and Cortland. He was retired from Lance Co. where he had worked as a delivery driver for many years and had also driven for 7-Up. He was currently working as a crossing guard at the Fall Creek Elementary School and delivering for Advance Auto. Bob had been very active in former years with the Ithaca Whips Basketball and the Ithaca Fastpitch League. He was an avid bowler and loved playing cards and organizing euchre tournaments. He was a life member of the Ithaca Moose, Eagles and Elks and the Murrells Inlet, SC American Legion and was a long time member of #7's Volunteer Fire Co.

Bob is survived by his sister in law, Gladys Diemond of Ithaca; his nephews, William Diemond of Murrells Inlet, SC and George Diemond of Pompano Beach, FL; his niece, Sharon Morgan of Lansing and his dear friends, Karen Rider and Dave Williams.


Friends may call on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 3 to 5 pm at the Bangs Funeral Home where members of the Ithaca Elks Lodge #636 will perform ritual services at 5 pm. A reception will be held immediately following the Elks service at the Ithaca Moose Club on Elmira Rd. Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 11 am at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Pastor Justin Beck officiating.
