Roger Hile

September 15, 1936 – November 3, 2026

Roger Hile passed away on November 3, 2026, at the age of 90. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who was adored by everyone fortunate enough to know him. Roger had a wonderful sense of humor, was a gifted storyteller and jokester, and always had a way of bringing a smile to those around him. He especially loved children and treasured the time spent with family and friends.

Roger was employed by the Tompkins County Highway Department for over 30 years, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator before becoming a site foreman. He took pride in his work and dedicated many years of service to the community.

In his free time, Roger enjoyed a variety of hobbies and pastimes. He loved hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, playing cards, and trying his luck at the casinos. A loyal sports fan, he was an avid supporter of the New York Yankees and Syracuse basketball. Whether sharing a story, telling a joke, or simply enjoying the company of others, Roger had a special way of making people feel welcome.

Roger is survived by his loving wife, Constance Hile; his sons, Stephen (Susan Streeter) and Richard (Jill); his stepchildren, Clint Sidle, Joe Sidle (Diane), Roy Hornbrook (Gale), Mike Hornbrook (Tammy), Steve Hornbrook, and Cathy Hornbrook; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory.

Roger leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and stories that will be shared for generations. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing hiim.

Calling hours will be held Monday, November 9 from 11 to 1pm, The time of sharing at 1 PM, Burial will follow in South Hill cemetery.
