Sandra K. (Kearl) Stone

Sandra K. Stone, age 80 of Cortland, NY passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York.

Born May 7, 1944 in Mt. Clemons, MI she was the daughter of the late Dell and Marjorie Lail Kearl. Sandy was a teacher for 34 years in the Ithaca City School District retiring in 2005 but continuing to substitute teach until 2016. During her retirement she enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time on Cayuga Lake.

Sandy is survived by her loving partner of 24 years, Ed Kirker; her son and daughter in law, Parker and Stacey Stone; granddaughters, Julianna Marie Stone and Audrey Rose Stone; siblings, Debra (Bill)Minnock, Shari (Bob) Sprole and Kenneth (Patricia) Kearl; several nieces, nephews and other extended family members. In addition to her parents, Sandy was predeceased by her brothers, Steven and Rodney Kearl.

Calling hours will be held from 5-7 pm on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Bangs Funeral Home, 209 W. Green St., Ithaca, NY. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, August 12, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery, Ithaca.
