March 2, 1944 — March 4, 2018

Sharron J. Gray Williams of Candor, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 4th surrounded by her family and friends. Born March 2nd, 1944 in Ithaca, NY, where she was raised and lived for 40 years, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence A. Gray and the late Gertrude Catlin Gray.

Sharron was a woman full of love and laughter and gave both freely to her family and friends who loved to be in her presence. For twenty years, until her retirement, Sharron worked the front desk at Family and Children's Services of Ithaca, a job she loved with all her heart. She showed kindness and respect to every client that passed through the doors. She touched people's lives daily just by being her authentic self and was rewarded tenfold with the love and friendship she received in return. From her youngest days when her father played guitar, Sharron found joy in music and dancing, a love which followed her for the rest of her days. She could be found singing and dancing whenever and wherever she heard music. Sharron had a mischievous and goofy side. She loved to laugh and joke, so much so, that her family and friends considered her young at heart all of her life (and so did she. Sharron also enjoyed completing her Daily Challenge and being on facebook. She was known to have a sweet tooth or two and loved candy, ice cream, and the cookies her friend made for her weekly. Sharron treasured each and every friend she had old, new, Candor, Ithaca or online, each one had a special place in her heart

The biggest joy of Sharron's life was her daughter Johanna, whom she cherished, and their love for each other was and remains boundless.

Sharron is survived by her longtime companion of 33 years Harland "Butch" VanEtten, her daughter Johanna Gray Williams (Howard Hertel), her loving sister Margaret "Gray" Hoover (Ernie), and her ever faithful dog Dudley. She is also survived by nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
