Spencer

Sheila Rose Vanamburg, 77, of Spencer, NY, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on October 22, 2025.

Born on March 10, 1948, in Johnson City, NY, Sheila was the daughter of Jacqueline Tuncy and Bill Romich. She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Romich; her mother, Jacqueline Tuncy; her stepfather, Jerry Tuncy; her brother, Robert Wesser (Marie Wesser); and her sister, Melody Tainter (John Tainter). She is survived by her brother, Ronald Wesser; her sister, Patience Stuart (predeceased James Stuart); and her sister, Pegi Backner (predeceased Jim Backner). While the exact cause of her passing is unknown, her family believes the Lord called her home after she bravely battled various medical conditions.

Sheila shared a deep and loving marriage with Rick Vanamburg for six beautiful years. They cherished every day, finding joy in simple pleasures like bird watching, UTV rides through fields, canning food, visiting family, attending church, and helping others. On October 12th, they celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary by reminiscing over their wedding album, a cherished annual tradition.

Her unwavering faith was her greatest motivation, second only to her love for her children. She seized every opportunity to share the word of God, often asking her grandchildren, "Do you know Jesus loves you and so do I?" Her priority was the salvation of her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Vanamburg; her children, Kimberly S. Rummel, Kelly S. Talcott, Donald S. Rummel (Maria C. Rummel), Christin Tyskewicz (Philip S. Tyskewicz, Jr.) and extended family. Her 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren were her greatest concern and priority in life.

Sheila possessed endless creativity, evident in her passion for re-doing furniture, painting, and decorating. She had a keen eye for a bargain, frequently exploring thrift shops and yard sales. She loved spending time at her church, the Highway Tabernacle in Van Etten, NY, and enjoyed watching birds, with hummingbirds being her favorite. Above all, her family was her biggest joy. She loved unconditionally, and her warmth and love left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her presence will be deeply missed.
