Sophie C. Kammash, 89, formerly Sophie C. Michael of 812 E. State Street in Ithaca, passed away peacefully on December 16th, 2015 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she has resided since 1956.
She is survived by her husband, Terry; son, Dean, of Ann Arbor, and by her brother, Edward of Williamsville, N.Y. and sister, Olga Coury of Binghamton, N.Y.
She attended schools in Ithaca and graduated from Ithaca High School in 1944. She later attended Rider College in Trenton, New Jersey, after which, she was employed in the payroll services office of the Tompkins County Memorial Hospital. She remained in this position until her marriage in 1956 to Dr. Terry Kammash who was serving as a Professor of Nuclear Engineering at the University of Michigan. Her religious faith governed her life. She was dedicated to the welfare of her entire family, helping them in any way that was needed.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 23, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at Bangs Funeral Home with Fr. Athanasios Parthenakis officiating. Burial to follow at Lakeview Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
