Ithaca

Tatyana Ilina (Tanya), of Ithaca, NY, was born in Russia and lived in Israel before immigrating to the U.S. She is survived by her husband, Jacob Greenberg, sons Anthony Greenberg (Janet Huie) and Andrei Greenberg (Galina Lokshina), and grandchildren Victoria and Nikolai. She was very involved and helpful in her grandchildren’s lives.

She received her Ph.D. in Chemistry and was a successful chemist in Russia, through her ingenuity and tenacity inventing a glue suitable for spacecraft. Her favorite hobbies were art and music, and she was gifted at cartooning, drawing, painting and Ikebana. Tanya loved travel (particularly extended visits with her son and daughter-in-law in London), nature, flowers, children, animals (especially dogs and birds), dancing (ballet) and socializing, and was a fierce advocate of her family. She was to the very end a hard worker and was active her entire life. She was fun and funny, kind and generous, and is greatly missed.

The family would like to thank the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies, Island Fitness, Cayuga Medical Center, Brookdale Memory Care, as well as all of her friends and kind neighbors who enhanced her years in Ithaca. She rests in peace at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Ithaca, NY.
