David Edward Cynoske of Ithaca NY passed away at the Hospicare residence on W. King Rd on Friday September 1st, 2023 at the age of 87.
David was born on February 20, 1936, the son of the late David and Betty Cynoske. He spent a career as an Ithaca Fire Fighter at 6's station after driving for station 1 for a bit. He loved being a fire fighter and all that came with it. The stories he told and that were told about him were never ending.
David is survived by his sister, Diane Hecht (David Frumkin); four children, Mark Cynoske (Rebecca), Tamara Hoffman (Jerry) and predeceased by his daughter, Shawn Ann Cynoske and son, David Charles Cynoske. He has several grandchildren.
David is survived by several step-children; Robert Trask, Terrie White (Jeff), Kathy Pompey (Washington), and Kassi Washington. He was predeceased by step-daughter, Veronica McDonald in 1999. He has several step-grandchildren but lived with Rekee and Ryan Mayu (White) for over a decade before passing.
David is also survived by a niece, Sheila Herbst and two nephews, Steve and Todd Herbst.
David had many wives; Pearl Leonard, Leatitia Drake, and June Rose but the love of his life was the last one; Linda Washington. She found his heart, opened it wide up, loved him hard and now they rest together in peace as Linda predeceased him on January 23, 1989 from cancer.
For the past 11 years David's stepdaughter and husband Jeff & Terrie White have cared for him.
Per David's wishes there were no services and a private burial was held at Frear Cemetary on Friday September 8th. Bangs Funeral home assisted in carrying out his wishes.
A big thank you to Visiting Nurse Services and Hospicare & Palliative Care Services for the wonderfully supportive care they provided.
If anyone would like to make a donation in David's honor, please consider doing so to the Ithaca Fire Department, Hospicare or Visiting Nurse Services.
