Jean Radice Obituary

Jean Emily Clay Radice, 70, passed away on Thursday, 8 September 2022 at Hospicare in Ithaca as the result of glioblastoma brain cancer. She was born on 7 September 1952 in Binghamton, NY to the late John A. Clay and Molly Hague Clay. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Mark A. Radice; daughters Caroline E. Radice, of Redwood Valley, CA; and Elisa L. Radice and her husband, Carl L. Dambkowski, of San Mateo, CA; her sons, Nicholas A. Radice, of Bloomfield, NJ; and Peter A. Radice, of Ithaca, NY; her granddaughter, Francesca Rose Radice, of San Mateo, CA; her brother, James A. Clay, of Dayton, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a graduate of Vestal High School, 1970; attended Syracuse University School of Music 1970–73; graduated with a BMus in organ performance from Boston University in 1974; graduated with an MMus in organ performance from University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in 1977. She held church music positions for 46 years in Boston, Cincinnati, Rochester, San Francisco, and Ithaca/Finger Lakes region, taught organ and harpsichord at Ithaca College, maintained a piano studio in the Bay Area and Ithaca, and was an active collaborative recitalist. Her joys included her husband and children, her home, gardens, baking and cooking, Anglican church music, and travelling.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Bangs Funeral Home, 209 W. Green Street, Ithaca, NY.

A memorial service to be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Syracuse NY (when circumstances allow due to pandemic restrictions and family availability) will be announced.

Inurnment will take place at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, New York City.
