Kerman Norbert Glaser

Kerman Norbert Glaser, 98, of Ithaca, New York went home to be with the Lord on Saturday March 25, 2023 at Cayuga Medical Center. Kerman graduated from high school 1942 and entered the NYS Maritime Academy in 1943. He served seven Steamship companies before entering the US Navy on active duty as lieutenant serving on board the USS Damato until he was honorably discharged in December 1949. He then remained active in the Naval Reserves until 1955. Kerman later found success in the insurance industry and served a term as president of the Ithaca Life Underwriters Association.  Not being one to ever stop working, his final position was as a Transportation Service Representative at Cornell University.  

Kerman found much joy in serving others and was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church. He spent 60 plus years as a member of the Elks and Knights of Columbus along with other service organizations.

Kerman was pre deceased by his mother, Adelaide Martha Glaser (Greenfield) and his father Francis La Verne Glaser. He was also pre deceased by the love of his life and his wife of over 50 years Gladys Glaser (Lam).     

 When Kerman wasn’t visiting shut-ins, or spending time at church he could be found dancing to live music and just thoroughly enjoying life. He is survived by his nephew Andy Falconio and his partner, Bob Jones of Harwich Port, Cape Cod, his nephew Nick Falconio of Palm Springs, CA and his niece Amy Leitao of ­­­­­Ashburn, VA. He is also survived by his Family of Choice; Carol Schusler, Annette Payne, Sue Powell, Sharon Anderson and Gladys Brangman. He has many, many friends who will dearly miss him.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Church, on Monday April 3, 2023 at 11:00am. Following the service he will be laid next to his wife Gladys in Calvary Cemetery on Rt. 13a in Ithaca, NY.
