Melissa G. Foster

Melissa G. Foster, 55, of Newfield died Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Strong Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 19, 1967 in Endicott, NY to the late James C. Foster, Sr. and Barbara (Nesbitt) Manley. Melissa grew up in the Berkshire/Newark Valley area before moving to Newfield.

Melissa worked at Cornell for 20 years and at Ithaca Dispatch for about 3 years as a call taker/dispatcher. She loved her coworkers and customers.  She also loved to collect wolves and porcelain dolls.

Melissa was a loving sister, aunt, and great aunt. She is survived by her brothers and sister, Michael (Christine Tottey) Foster, Richard (Marge) Foster, Russell (Robyn) Manley, Jr., and April (Manley) Warner; her uncle, Roniey (Carol) Sharp; cousin, Kelly Sharp; nephews and nieces, Seth Foster, Tyler Foster, Courtney Foster, Kirsten Summers, Tabitha Foster, Heather Manley, Beth Ink, Sabrina Foster, Faith Warner, Elsa Warner, Julia and Emma Blinn, Grayson Manley and Asher Manley; great nephews, Owen Foster and Braidyn Summers; as well as several other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, Melissa was predeceased by her step mother, Betty Foster; and brothers, James C. Foster, Jr. and Willis S. Foster.

Melissa’s family will receive friends on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Bangs Funeral Home, 209 W. Green Street, Ithaca, NY.  A graveside service will follow at 1:15pm at Evergreen Cemetery, 12753 NY-38, Berkshire, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
