On Saturday, July 24, 2021 Jean Patricia Seaman (nee Andersen), much-loved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at the age of 89.
Jean was born on March 18, 1932 in Worcester, MA to Anton (Andy) and Mary Andersen. She received a bachelor’s degree from Framingham State Teacher’s College and a Master’s degree from Bridgewater State University and taught elementary school in Massachusetts, New York, and Detroit, Michigan. On June 29, 1962 she married Thomas Richard Seaman. They raised 4 children – Pat, Jay, Kate, and Tom.
Jean had a remarkable Catholic faith and was very involved in her local church no matter where she lived. Throughout her life Jean enjoyed creating, especially knitting and needlepoint, reading and studying, playing golf, and cheering for the Boston Red Sox. She was a wonderful homemaker, had a great sense of humor, and enthusiastically embraced whatever a rich and varied life full of travel and crazy family members threw at her. Jean / Mom / Nana / Nana-mom was a sweet lady who will be missed very much.
Jean was preceded in death by her mother, father, sister, Mary, and brother, Andy. She is survived by her husband and children as well as grandchildren Mikaela, Leah, Luke, Maggie, Connor, Nate, and Owen, nephews David and John, and nieces Chris and Caroline. A funeral mass and celebration of Jean’s life will be held this Summer or Autumn. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Catholic Charities of Tompkins (www.catholiccharitiestt.org).
